Hey all~
As Rob reported earlier, Steve did indeed have a very restful and easy evening. He had little interruptions and definitely seemed as if he was dreaming sweet dreams. =)
I was telling some friends and family about how he had such a nice night and how he had done something he had never done before. When I arrived yesterday the night nurse had reported that he had been communicating more with his eyes. Two blinks meaning yes, one blink meaning no. I said, "Oh, yeah?" Even though I was excited to hear the good news, I decided not to pester him. I hang on to every encouraging word, but will be the first to admit that I don't want to 'jinx' his good progress.
A little later on in the evening, I was wiping him down with a cold wash cloth and decided to rub his shoulders a bit. I can't even imagine how sore he must be after already laying there for a full month! He was looking right at me when I asked, "Steve, if this feels good and you want me to keep doing this then blink twice." He then very distinctively blinked down hard twice. I was so happy it gave me chills. These are the signs that we are all looking for. Not only did he show me that he heard me, but that he understood me.
I just thought I'd share this news with everyone knowing that we are all anxiously awaiting more good news with each and every day. As we all know, he is a very dedicated man and I have no doubt that he will be able to conquer this challenge in his life with full determination.

You are all still on our minds and hearts and in our prayers daily. Even though Steve loves the maize and blue, he obviously has some "Fightin' Irish" in him. :) It is St. Patrick's Day after all. And, as was noted, you are truly an inspiration to all of us who frequent this blog.
When I pray for Steve, Linda, Rob, Beth, and Danielle, I feel so strongly that God is with you on this journey. Growing up with two grandparents who were born in Ireland, the following blessing was ingrained in me. I wish it for all of you in the days to come...

Dear Steve's Family and Dani,
Small blessings take place everyday...I truly believe that you received one of those, Dani. Rejoice in this moment that God has given you! Hold tight to it when you need strength and know that He watches over you giving you His love and the faith that you need to stand strong.
Luke 11:9-10 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
These are God's words to you! I have faith that your prayers will be answered, Steve's health will continue to improve and your family will grow stronger due to the bonds that you create during these days.

What an incredible update!! It brought tears to my eyes when I read this. Danielle-this just goes to show how much your presence, along with his family's presence, has helped Steve in his recovery.
I was listening to my music yesterday, and I heard a song by Lonestar that reminded me of Steve and his family. The lyrics say "Not a day goes by..that I don't think of you.." I think this song relates to most of us, as we keep Steve, Danielle and his family in our thoughts and prayers every day. Let's keep sending him all of our positive energy :)

This Holy Week, the Lenten season draws to a close with the celebration of the death and resurrection of our Lord.
How fitting would it be for Steve to awaken from this coma this week?? As I said early on in this journey, Steve and his family are truly living Lent. With that said, I feel very strongly that Steve will ARISE from his slumber and conclude this Lenten season with the true joy that was felt by Jesus's family and disciples! Let us all pray for this to be.

First and foremost, please know how much I love you! You are an amazing kid but we all already know that about you. You are strong and are proving that over and over again. Just remember that baby steps lead to little steps and little steps lead to larger ones....
Let me tell you about your Mom, Dad, Beth, Grams and Danielle. They are truly amazing. They have not left your side both day and night. I feel better just knowing that they are with you each and every day.
I'm sorry that Beth and I sang that awful song to you in Maryland. You can yell at us later. Uncle Don is the singer in the family...truly not me!

We in Georgia, hate to be so far away from everyone right now especially....but so happy to hear the latest news...Tell Steve we said "COME ON ... YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!", its getting time to wake up....we love you all and miss you, and Spring brings new life so maybe this is just the beginning, we are all praying!!!!
Can someone post an address for the hospital, so we can send cards, the kids would love too...

Thanks so much for posting the positive news about Steve, we really appreciate you being there all the time for him and making him as comfortable as possible.
We got to see Steve today, and even in less than a week we could see a difference in his color and his reactions (yawning & moving his mouth). We were pleasantly suprised to see that he made a sound when they poked his finger to take blood, because that was the first time we've seen him do something like that.
We agree with Kyla that he seems closer in prescence and we know that he'll continue to improve, especially after he's done fighting the infections.
We'll keep praying for more positive news and that Steve will continue to improve every day:)

Hey Steve-kiddo,
I know why you were anxious to communicate....Beth had you watch that Transformers movie didn't she?!?! I would want to scream, "turn that thing off!" too!!! :-) We were so happy to see how well you looked on Sunday, we knew it would just be a matter of time before you were ready to fight again...because you can't keep a good man down!!
