Have had something on our minds since writing our message last night. We referred to Beth and Danielle as "the girls" and that's been bugging us. You've never seen two stronger women.
Parents expect to deal with all aspects of their kids' lives...the good, the bad, and the ugly. Can you really expect a sister and a girlfriend to do the same? Apparently the answer is yes.
Beth and Danielle have stepped up to this challenge like you can't imagine. We watch and participate in all sorts of disturbing and stressful things, and they never waver. They are right in there helping and supporting Steve in every way that they can. We are so amazed by them.

Yes, Beth and Danielle have stepped up to the challenge, as has Steve in his fight. All this is largely due to their parents. It is not an accident that they are all amazing people. My sister, Laury and her husband Tim (Dani's parents) as well as Linda and Rob have defined parenthood at its best. Through all these challenges you get to look at your children with so much pride and love. Is there anything more important? What a great job you have obviously done and now your kids, as adults are defining "family" as it should be. Looking at each other for support, being able to lean on each other during this important time. It's certainly not just luck that there are so many friends reaching out to the Percha family. You are doing a great job taking care of Steve, but also taking care of each other. Looking forward to your return to Michigan!
Love you, Dani!

This is a story about our Steve
One that is yet to be believed
Who knew that a weekend out of town
Would turn his life tragically
upside down
Although I don't know Steve very
well
I was shocked to hear about the day
he fell
He told everyone he was fine
(You know how guys are all the
time)
But in the morning things were
looking bad
He must have fallen harder than
he thought he had
Thanks to the quick action of his
friend that day
We all know that Steve will be ok
He was taken to the hospital for
some tests
Things looked scarey but the
doctor knew what was best
The family got the most dreadful
call of all..
Steve is in a coma..from a terrible
fall
Best friend, pal, brother and son
They knew he was in for a really
tough run
But family and friends are by his
side
Staying with him for this very
long ride
We keep updated about Steve with
a blog
Even though his mind is still in a
fog
But with cards, prayers and long
talks with God
Steve can talk to us with a blink
and a nod
So keep the prayers coming day and
night
To help him win this terrible
fight
To see him grin and hear his
laughter
Is what this story needs...

my day job!!)

Sitting here before I have to go to work, it is now Steves birthday. Usually on a birthday we ask that person to make a wish. Today we need to switch that tradition and all of us need to make the wish for Steve to keep showing progress and get well soon.
You have been in everyones prayers and thoughts everyday and today even more.
We all love you very much Steve and are proud of the progress you have made so far, keep it up !!
Happy Birthday, love uncle dave, aunt laura, miranda and david

Steve,
Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you...
Trust me that getting this as a typed message is much better then my singing in person! :-) I just realized that in order to type those famous words, it seems I need to singing them at the same time! With that in mind I have to tell you what is going on in the back ground right now. My dog Lola, a 4 yr old Schnauzer, has decided to piped up and sing along with me!! LOL, she has never done that before.
So, from Lola and I, we wish you a very blessed day.
Love to you Steve and to your wonderful family.

Happy Birthday Steve! I've been thinking about you daily, along with all my family members. The network of support for you in AA is ENORMOUS, and we all have faith in your progress and recovery. I think someone better construct a sign up wait-list for visiting hours when you come back to MI! Keep the progress going!
Love and a million hugs, Kyla Newman
Thank you for doing such a great job with the updates! It's really helpful and the details make a big difference for controlling emotions and anxieties.
