update #70 from Linda

Hello! I hope all is well with all of you.

A few big things that have been happening with Steve...

Laura is now in charge of his swallow study/therapy, and has given him tiny spoonfuls of water and chocolate pudding/milk mixed together to get a feel for the swallowing issues Steve has. She said she'll take him next week for more extensive tests to get a better feel for things, and to get him on the road to eating again. You can imagine how exciting this is for all of us. It may take some time, but we're so glad things are moving along in this area.

Steve is now assigned to "Patrick" for OT and we're very excited about that. Patrick has worked with Steve before and is pretty aggressive when it comes to therapy; Steve enjoys working with him.

Pivot transfers make life so much easier...no more sling/lift! Rob has been "cleared" to do them, too.

Steve's headaches have all but disappeared after his surgery and recovery from it. Such a huge relief.

Things are rolling along!

Take care, everyone.

Linda

Steve-o!!!

Your buddy Carl here....it's good to hear things are moving forward on the old swallowing front. I will make sure to fatten myself up for you! I will have Betty bring another one of her friends when we dine....two sticks of butter are better than one!

Can't wait to see you and that gal of yours, Dani!

Peace.

We prayed specifically in our bible study for Stephen's pain from the surgery to diminuish. It seems that this prayer has been answered! We look forward to the updates and news on Stephen and marvel at how far he has come! We continue to pray for the gains in rehab, especially in swallowing so that he can come home to you. Stay strong!

Steve,

As you battle these obstacles through therapy, remember this:

"I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you will receive it, and you will."
Our Lord Jesus Christ
(Mk. 11:24)

Love you!

Keep on rollin' Steve!! It's such a relief to get on here and read all the good news! You certainly have lived an adventureous life in your young years and it seems God has many more exciting experiences for you. You may have some battle wounds from those experiences but you truly are a Warrior!!

Percha family - thanks for the updates! Steve - Waiting for the day when you "bust a move" as the high school grads say (aka dance wildly!). I just learned this new lingo, never too old to learn...
!-)wink Keep up the good work,

"Yeah, Come on!!! Steve" Sounds like things are progressing much better. Do they think the "headaches have all but diminished just due to reattaching the "bone flap?" I was wondering if any of it had to do with tension in his neck, between having to wear that helmet and lift his head, it just seems like that may have caused a lot of tension in his neck, thus a headache. I did not get to feel the helmet, but can imagine how heavy it was and with not a lot of strength in his neck and shoulders I could see where it could have caused or aggravated the cause of the headaches...just glad to hear they are better/gone. We all hope he continues to progress with the therapy, especially with the speech and swallowing. I am sure that just getting the taste of something in his mouth has got to really be an incentive for him, to make him really want to move that mouth towards the "Lobster" dinner he will be able to have soon. Happy Fathers Day (a day late)....Lots of Love and Prayers...Keep up the great job Steve. (Aunt) Cheryl, Uncle Rick, Alyssa, Alexis and Ryan.
